A great classroom starts with a great teacher—and that’s you! In this lesson, we’ll look at how you can grow in your job as an adult educator by enhancing your professionalism and managing your time effectively. In addition, we’ll look at ways to boost your confidence and establish your authority in the classroom.

Adult students are different than kids, and understanding those differences can help you reach and teach them. Today we’ll look at what makes adult learners tick and how you can best meet their needs. In addition, we’ll talk about preparing for that big first day by getting your paperwork in order. Finally, we’ll look at seven different seating arrangements and the pros and cons of each.

Jill is a risk-taker who loves testing the rules. Germaine is a shy bookworm. Claire is an artist, while Dave&rsquo;s your most popular student. All of these adults have different learning styles and i<em>ntelligences</em>&mdash;and to win them over, you&rsquo;ll need to teach to their strengths. In this lesson, we&rsquo;ll explore two different models of learning styles, and take a look at the eight intelligences you&rsquo;ll want to factor into your lesson plans.

Zzzzzzz. That&rsquo;s the sound of Darren snoozing in the corner as you&rsquo;re trying to lecture. Meanwhile, Emily and Sherelle are too busy gossiping about their weekend dates to pay any attention to you. Does this sound like your classroom? If so, you&rsquo;ll enjoy today&rsquo;s lesson, where you&rsquo;ll learn loads of tricks to get misbehaving students back on track. We&rsquo;ll also talk about ways to get shy violets to participate, and look at an effective conflict management technique.

<p>Remember the old days, when teachers lectured for hours while students took notes or dozed? Those days are gone&mdash;and good riddance! Today, we&rsquo;ll talk about a host of innovative techniques, from window paning and role-playing to mnemonics and visualization, that work like magic in a student-centered classroom. But we&rsquo;ll also take a peek at lectures and other classic teaching techniques, and see what part they can play in a modern-day learning environment.</p>

"Proper prior planning" may be a clich&eacute;, but it&rsquo;s also an excellent idea. In this lesson, we&rsquo;ll look at the up-front work that can set you up for success in the classroom. First, you&rsquo;ll discover the 12 steps for creating a dynamite course outline. After that, we&rsquo;ll delve into lesson planning&mdash;and finally, we&rsquo;ll talk about laying the groundwork for a welcoming orientation.

Just as an interior decorator accents a room with bright colors and great fabrics, you can accent your classroom presentations with the right audiovisual aids. Today, we&rsquo;ll look at high-tech, low-tech, and no-tech educational aids and technology you can use to capture and keep your students&rsquo; attention. In addition, we&rsquo;ll talk about setting up your classroom so that everyone can benefit from videos and other on-screen material.

What motivates your students to learn? Today, we&rsquo;ll look at the 10 needs and desires that bring learners to your classroom&mdash;and you&rsquo;ll discover how to tap into those motivators during your presentations. We&rsquo;ll also look at how to create powerful presentation openings, content, and closings. Then we&rsquo;ll explore the art of questioning and talk about the best way to ask and answer questions in your classroom.

In this lesson, we&rsquo;ll discuss the A-B-C&rsquo;s of grading and talk about ways to write top-notch test questions. In addition, you&rsquo;ll discover great tools for assessing any type of skill, from cake-baking to hairdressing. You&rsquo;ll also find out how to avoid the most common mistakes teachers make when they assess students, so you can achieve the Goldilocks standard of grading: not too harsh, not too easy, but just right.

You want every student to feel welcome in your classroom&mdash;so today we&rsquo;ll look at making your class accessible and enjoyable for students with disabilities. First, we&rsquo;ll look at the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and you&rsquo;ll learn how to comply with this law. Next, we&rsquo;ll talk about learning disabilities&mdash;in particular, dyslexia and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). And finally, we&rsquo;ll explore ways to show courtesy and respect to students with any type of disability.

Even if you create great lessons, your students will succeed only if they&rsquo;re good studiers and efficient test-takers. In this lesson, we&rsquo;ll explore ways to beef up your students&rsquo; study skills and look at strategies for test-taking. In addition, we&rsquo;ll discuss test anxiety and talk about tailoring your tips on studying to each learner&rsquo;s strengths.

Enough about your students&mdash;today's lesson is all about you! Whether you're a brand-new teacher or an experienced educator looking for new classroom opportunities, you'll find tips here on how to power up your job search. We'll start by talking about two keys to a successful job hunt: a great r&eacute;sum&eacute; and a winning portfolio. After that, we'll discuss how you can target the right schools and wow them with your letter-writing and interview skills.

&iexcl;Bienvenidos! (Welcome&nbsp;!) In our first lesson, you&rsquo;ll master the building blocks of Spanish. First, you&rsquo;ll discover how easy it is to spell and pronounce words en <em>espa&ntilde;ol</em>. After that, you&rsquo;ll learn how to count from 0 to 19.

<i>La familia</i> is central to Latin American life, and knowing &ldquo;who&rsquo;s who&rdquo; can be a big help when you&rsquo;re talking with witnesses, crime victims, or suspects. Today you&rsquo;ll learn the Spanish words for family members, and pick up some easy conversational phrases you can use every day on the job. In addition, we&rsquo;ll talk about pronouns and explore the role of gender in Spanish.

What color was the suspect&rsquo;s car? Which way did he go? How fast was he driving? After today&rsquo;s lesson, you&rsquo;ll be able to answer all these questions easily <i>en espa&ntilde;ol</i>. We&rsquo;ll start by talking about the Spanish words for colors, and then move on to directional words (with some prepositions thrown in as a bonus). After that, you&rsquo;ll learn how to count all the way to 199.

Law enforcement professionals are always on the go&mdash;so you&rsquo;ll want lots of action words in your Spanish vocabulary. To help you use Spanish verbs easily, I&rsquo;ll introduce you to my simple conjugation system that uses only three tenses (present, easy past, and easy future). In addition, we&rsquo;ll look at two interesting verbs that mean &ldquo;to be:&rdquo; <em>ser</em> and <em>estar</em>.

Asking questions is a big part of your job, and today you&rsquo;ll find out how to query your witnesses or suspects <em>en espa&ntilde;ol</em>. After that, we&rsquo;ll look at powerful words for describing objects, people, and feelings. And in this lesson, you&rsquo;ll master the very important little word <em>hay</em>&mdash;something you&rsquo;ll definitely want to add to your repertoire.

In this lesson, we&rsquo;ll add more high-octane words to your vocabulary for talking about people. You&rsquo;ll learn how to describe their ages, their hair colors, their ethnicity, their legal status, and even what they&rsquo;re wearing. In addition, we&rsquo;ll talk about the weather <em>en espa&ntilde;ol</em>. I&rsquo;ll also introduce you to four handy little words&mdash;<em>este</em>, <em>esta</em>, <em>ese</em>, and <em>esa</em>&mdash;that will help you stretch out your sentences.

It&rsquo;s time to talk about . . . time! In today&rsquo;s lesson, you&rsquo;ll discover how to talk about the hours of the day, the days of the week, and the months of the year in Spanish. As a bonus, you&rsquo;ll learn how to identify the major parts of the body and obtain answers in emergencies by asking questions like &ldquo;Where does it hurt?,&rdquo; &ldquo;Are you ill?,&rdquo; and &ldquo;What happened?&rdquo;

Whether you&rsquo;re taking dispatch calls or walking a beat, you need to be familiar with your neighborhood&mdash;so today, we&rsquo;ll tour the buildings and places in a typical town. In addition, we&rsquo;ll explore a house inside and out, and take a look at the objects you&rsquo;re likely to find there. And we&rsquo;ll talk a little about weights and measures, including the metric measures many Spanish speakers use.

Today&rsquo;s topic is professions&mdash;both legal and illegal. We&rsquo;ll start by looking at Spanish words for emergency responders and law enforcement professionals. After that, you&rsquo;ll meet some additional professionals and learn their names <i>en espa&ntilde;ol</i>. Next, we&rsquo;ll investigate words for criminals and check out the weapons they&rsquo;re likely to use. And just for fun, we&rsquo;ll talk a bit about Spanish first and last names&mdash;which can be pretty confusing when you&rsquo;re trying to file paperwork.

Speeders, drunk drivers, red-light runners&mdash;you&rsquo;ll meet all of them in this lesson. We&rsquo;ll begin with a quick look at words for describing drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. After that, you&rsquo;ll discover lots of phrases to describe specific traffic violations. We&rsquo;ll also explore the names for different types of vehicles, and you&rsquo;ll learn one word you <i>won&rsquo;t</i> want to use to describe people who break the rules of the road.

At a crime scene, you often need to talk firmly to suspects and witnesses. Today, you&rsquo;ll learn lots of useful commands for getting people to do what you want&mdash;from polite commands like &ldquo;sit down&rdquo; to forceful ones like &ldquo;Up against the wall!&rdquo; In addition, you&rsquo;ll find out how to describe your actions when you&rsquo;re giving a citation, arresting a suspect, or administering a drug or alcohol test. And finally, we&rsquo;ll practice saying that all-important Miranda warning in Spanish.

In your job, you&rsquo;re likely to encounter all sorts of medical crises&mdash;from heart attacks to gunshot wounds and broken bones. In this lesson, you&rsquo;ll learn Spanish words that can help you deal with common medical conditions like these. We&rsquo;ll also touch on the topic of direct object pronouns, and we&rsquo;ll add to your repertoire of commands for emergency and non-emergency situations.

Courses are delivered to you through expertly executed lessons, online instruction and interaction with like-minded students. Our courses are designed to deliver all of the benefits of studying in a classroom whilst giving you the flexibility to study at a time and place to suit your needs. You can access your classroom 24/7 from any device with an internet connection.

This course has a 3 month duration. You'll complete comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments before submitting your final exam at the end of the course to achieve your certificate. Courses must be completed within the 3 month access period.

In our first lesson, we'll take some time to be sure you're comfortable with the way the online classroom works, downloading images for class, and where things are in Lightroom 4. You'll learn how to create an organizational system that works with Lightroom and keeps your images easily available to you. With Lightroom's import tools, you'll be able to add keywords to images and add personalized metadata for easy searches and Internet security.

As we continue our discussion about libraries and importing images to Lightroom, you'll be pleased to see how many options you have! In this lesson, we'll discuss shortcuts for photographers working with Lightroom and several different ways to speed up the import process. We'll also explore a variety of methods to add keywords and metadata and use them to search and sort your images. By the end of this lesson, you'll have all the tools you need to import, sort, and export images for a clean start to managing your images.

Today we'll explore how Lightroom works behind the scenes&mdash;something you'll want to know as we move into <i>developing</i> or making changes to your images with Lightroom. With an understanding of how the Library module works for importing, organizing, and exporting images, you're ready to work with Lightroom's Quick Develop tools. In this lesson, you'll see how to make quick changes, not just to one image, but to groups and large batches of images. This is just the beginning of our journey through Lightroom's Develop tools. You'll also learn how to work with multiple images and make virtual copies&mdash;all part of Lightroom's quick and easy developing tools.

Today, we'll begin our exploration of the Develop module and the many tools for editing and adjusting images. You'll have lots of hands-on practice with tools for straightening, rotating, and cropping images. It may seem like a straightforward subject, but Lightroom has many variations, so you can perfect both the shape and the size of your image. You may prefer to straighten based on a horizon in the image, or by fine-tuning the alignment against a grid. You can crop to a variety of different preset shapes, create your own custom shape, or crop by hand. You'll be pleased with the results!

Color is an integral part of the perfect print, and it's important to see how Lightroom helps you adjust your overall color tone and lighting with several sophisticated tools. In today's lesson, you'll see how to pick the best white balance for your images, use a histogram to adjust the light, and find and correct problem areas with exposure clippings. These changes may be simple, but the right color and lighting bring your pictures to life, and you'll want to start the development process with these adjustments!

With today's lesson, we'll complete our study of the Basic panel, and you'll have quite a collection of tools at your disposal from the Develop module. We'll focus on color today, and you'll see how a subtle adjustment can clear away muted tones. We'll work with contrast, shadows, highlights, saturation, vibrance, and more. You may not know exactly what each of these does as we begin, but you'll find it's easy to experiment until you like what you see&mdash;and before you know it, you'll master the tools!

Next in our study of Lightroom, you'll have fun seeing the difference when you sharpen an image. Photographers work hard to shoot crisp images, but at times . . . things don't go as planned, and you'll be able to put the snap back into your images with Lightroom's tools. We'll work with sharpening and noise reduction tools today, and then you'll see how to apply any of the editing options to batches of images, bringing Lightroom's two best features together. It just gets better and better!

We'll continue our discussion on synchronizing or copying changes from one image to many in this lesson. But not all changes are meant to be copied, and you'll work with several tools like Red Eye Correction, Spot Removal, and the Adjustment Brush so that&nbsp;you can see how Lightroom corrects subtle issues in selected areas. This lesson will wrap up our study of the editing tools in Lightroom, and you won't be disappointed!

We've taken the first few weeks to see how to import images to Lightroom and develop them with an amazing array of tools. Now it's time to see what we can do with these images outside of Lightroom. Today's lesson is on exporting Lightroom's images, and you'll see that there are many options for size, shape, and further editing. Whether you're working with raw or JPEG, Lightroom will efficiently process your images, save your changes, and provide you images you can upload to printers, create scrapbooks with, or use with Adobe's companion products: Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.

In today's lesson, you'll see how to use Lightroom's Print module to create a variety of output options. Whether you print at home or send your images out to print, Lightroom has a number of menus you'll want to be familiar with. You'll see how to print single images, create contact sheets, and customize layouts for many purposes. Once you've mastered the Print module, you'll be ready to print with all the advantages of using Lightroom.

Lightroom has fans in two different areas: developing and organization. Today we'll go back to the organizational side and see how to rate images with star ratings and color labels, and we'll also look at how to create collections. With all these tools, you'll be able to categorize and find things with very little effort. It makes Lightroom a fast tool for locating images and moving forward in your workflow. You can work simply with Quick Collection and Target Collection, or you can create a sophisticated network of your own collections!

In our last lesson, we'll show off a bit with Lightroom's slideshow and identity plates. You'll see how to create both a PDF presentation and an MP4 Slideshow with music and special effects from your Lightroom collections. You'll also build an Identity Plate that you can use both in printing and presentations. With all the things you've learned in Lightroom, this is a great way to share your images with friends, family, and clients!
